Family Fun Afternoon
As a welcome back to the school year for our students and families, our Family Fun afternoon brings everyone together as parents, students and staff participate in a number of ‘Play for Life’ activities. These activities are fun and engaging and promote physical exercise in a fun and enjoyable way.
Harmony Day
Harmony Day celebrations take place all around Australia towards the end of Term 1. At St Jude’s we are blessed with a very multicultural community and as such, we celebrate Harmony Day in a big way. Beginning with a special Harmony Day Mass, students then engage in a number of activities in each classroom before sitting down to have a shared lunch prepared by our parents. Students are invited to wear their cultural dress and to bring a plate of food that is traditional to their country. Due to COVID, we haven’t been able to have our shared lunch but students still have an awesome day! This year, our Pastoral and Sports Committee put on a special Tabloid Carnival to end the day!
Mother’s Day Morning Tea
How can we say thank you to our Mum’s for all the work they do throughout the year? At St Jude’s our Mum’s are invited to a special Mother’s Day Mass before making their way to the school hall where our Pastoral Committee pamper our Mum’s with a Devonshire Tea. Mum’s are then invited back to the classrooms to complete a special activity with their children.
School Discos
Our Friends of St Jude’s host a school disco twice a year for our students. Students from PP – 6 come along and let their hair down as they dance the night away.
Sports Carnival
Our families and members of our school community are warmly invited to attend all our Sports Carnival’s throughout the year. This includes our Cross country, Athletics Carnival, Lightning Carnival and Cricket Carnival.
Father’s Day Sausage Sizzle
Our Father’s play an important role in the lives of our students. Each year at our Athletics Carnival, our Father’s receive a free sausage sizzle to have with their child/children during lunch.
Edu-Dance
One of the highlights of the year is our Edu-Dance concert where parents of students from Pre Primary to Year 6 are invited to come and watch their child participate in this awesome programme. Students learn and rehearse a dance fitness routine across the term and this programme concludes with a concert for our Mums and Dads.
Open Night
Our Open Night coincides with our Edu-Dance concert at the end of Term 3 and is an opportunity for our students and families to have a look at the amazing work that is happening in each class. Students race around the classrooms to complete an Amazing Race while absorbing the learning that is taking place in each class.
Colour ExplosionTM Run
In a year like no other, what better way to add a little bit of sunshine and lift spirits than to host our very first Colour ExplosionTM Run. Students from across the school (K-6) took part in this awesome event and got covered from head to toe in Colour. We were fortunate to have our local fire department come along which added to the fun as they sprayed us with their hoses and cooled us down on what was a rather warm day. Our industrial foam machine, obstacle course and music to set the mood really added to the fun before the day came to a close and students and staff gathered for one big final explosion of colour. This is now scheduled to become an annual event.
St Jude’s Feast Day & Talent Show
One of the highlights of our school calendar is our St Jude’s Feast Day. The day begins with a special whole school Mass focused on St Jude. Upon conclusion, students then take part in a special Mission Market where students visit various stalls and play various games for a small donation. The money raised from our Mission Market goes towards helping ‘Catholic Missions’ and some ‘Mercy Sister’ projects around the world.
At lunchtime, students can eat with their parents before assembling in the school hall for an afternoon of entertainment as we conclude the day with our annual St Jude’s Talent Show. We even have a few surprise judges there to give feedback on all the performances.
Carols Concert
To close the school year and to promote the spirit of Christmas, students throughout the school take part in a special ‘Carols Under the Stars’ at our annual Christmas concert. Families are invited to bring their picnic blankets, foldable chairs and dinner as they have a picnic on the school oval and await the concert which showcases the talent we have in our school.
